Printable Sudoku

Six puzzles to a sheet, answers on a separate page, nothing to install. Pick a difficulty and print — there is no board to play on this page, which is the point.

6 moderate puzzles ready to print, each with exactly one solution.

Why the answers print separately

Because a sheet with the answers underneath is a sheet you cannot use. You will read them without meaning to, and once you have there is no unseeing it.

So a page break sits between the puzzles and the answers. Six grids come out on the first sheet and six answers on the second, which also means you can hand the puzzles to somebody and keep the answer page yourself.

That break is enforced by removing everything else from the printed page rather than merely hiding it. Hiding an element keeps the space it occupied, which is how a one-page sheet turns into one page of grid followed by three blank ones — the commonest fault in printable puzzle sites and worth checking on any of them.

What size the squares come out

Six grids on A4 gives squares of roughly seventeen millimetres, which is enough to write a digit comfortably and enough to pencil three or four candidates into a corner. From the medium level up you will want that room.

Newspaper Sudoku is often printed at four or five millimetres a square. It looks neat and it makes the harder grids close to unsolvable on paper, because there is physically nowhere to put the candidates you are trying to hold in your head.

Ask for fewer puzzles if you want them larger. Four to a sheet gives squares over twenty millimetres, which suits a child learning the game or anyone working in pen.

The same puzzles that are on the play pages

Nothing here is a lesser version. Every grid comes from the same checked library: a solver counted its answers and stopped at two, and anything with a second answer was discarded rather than printed with a note.

The difficulty label means the same on paper as on screen, too. It is decided by running a solver that works the way a person does and recording the hardest technique it needed, not by counting how many clues are showing.

No account, no download, no PDF reader. It is an ordinary page with a print stylesheet, which is why it prints the same from a phone as from a desktop.

Common questions

Are these printable Sudoku free?

Yes, with no account and no limit. Print as many sheets as you like.

How many Sudoku fit on one page?

Six at a comfortable size, with squares around seventeen millimetres. Ask for fewer if you want them bigger; the answers always print on their own page.

Can I print the answers separately?

They already are separate — a page break sits between the puzzles and the answers, so you can print only the first sheet or keep the second yourself.
